As a participant is this documentary, perhaps you’re asking yourself why this film is so important for the author.
In a sentence: It will permit to raise funds for a humanitarian trip… to Africa.
The “raison d’être”, the motive of the author is rich in history.
Here it is. The whole thing began on Sunday February 8th, 2009 in Ottawa when a father visited his daughter:
- Father: Would you accompany me in India to celebrate the completion of your
University?
- The daughter: wow. Yes. Could we go through Thailand on our way? I dream of
going to Thailand.
Later, during a meditation about this idea of travelling, the father came back to his daughter. They met again. He knew that an initiation to spiritual life in India was not his daughter’s “thing”. She asked him then if she could do volunteer work? While in India?
- The father: How about going to Africa instead? We can do volunteer work over
there and I can do my yoga “thing” at the same time?
- WOW. Serious? SUPER, yes, let’s go. When are we leaving?
When the father said that to his daughter, he felt it was the right thing to do. He knew right then that the dream would become a reality as all the components to make to make it become reality were in place. He had available time off from work. He had a friend who was a humanitarian worker who could give him advices. All he needed was a bit of money to organize something “well”!
Therefore, the idea seeded itself. Then, the practical preparation came about.
- Where are we going? Africa is “huge”!
- What are we going to do?
- How long are we going to go?
Shivers passed through the spine. The father did a bit of research and came up with the following plan:
- Four weeks trip
- Raising money and goods to help fund the expenses and make donations over
there
- Create contacts, learn how to make this trip successful and help others who
want to do the same along the way.
Then, the idea of making a video about yoga came about. It would help raise funds.
The rest is history.
